Caroline Lucas Publishes Expenses

carolineandkeithcroppedGreen MEPs were amongst the first to make expenses information publicly available, and last year took the decision to have their annual accounts fully audited. The auditor’s certificate is available via Caroline’s website:

Here you can also see a breakdown of how she has spent her general allowance in the past year and information about her travel expenditure.   She is in the process of compiling the records for previous years, and this will be available shortly.

Green Party Leader visits Forest Row

wgp_speakerswCaroline Lucas MEP, leader of The Green Party visited Forest Row on Thursday 30th April to launch the local Green candidates campaign for both the West Sussex and East Sussex County Elections, and to promote her own campaign for re-election to the European Parliament.
Caroline has been a frequent visitor to Forest Row since 2003 when she addressed a packed audience during a national debate about the introduction of GM Crops to the UK, and a similarly vibrant public meeting in 2006 to support the Climate Change Bill which was finally passed by Parliament in 2008.

Caroline Lucas MEP will be speaking at the Main Village Hall in Forest Row at 8pm on Thursday, 30th April.

Caroline Lucas was voted politician of the year in the Observer ethical awards 2007, and is the leader of the Green Party.  She has, with the New Economics Foundation, co-authored the ground-breaking report A Green New Deal, which provides a blueprint for getting us out of the Credit Crunch AND creating a sustainable and prosperous long term future.

Come along to the public meeting to hear Caroline speak, and to have the opportunity to join in the discussion afterwards.

Government puts Pressure on Forest Row

Map of East Grinstead and Forest RowOn 17th July the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Hazel Blears, published 450 pages of recommended changes to the all-powerful South East Plan. Lurking in the midst of this weighty document was a potentially devastating paragraph specifically relating to Forest Row.

“Where development is planned close to administrative boundaries, for example East Grinstead, neighbouring authorities will take the necessary steps to ensure that essential infrastructure is put in place to support development.”
